#01 Potala Palace
It is October 19, 2015 and my last morning in Tibet. I take a cab to the Potala Palace. Breathing is easier for me again after the high altitude air has affected me very much in the last two days. Two days passed before, when I was more or less tied to the bed and could not explore the area around Lhasa. But on these last morning I want to take at least this one photo around Potala Palace. I am late. The sun is already rising. Arriving at the small stupa, I hastily try to find a gap between all the other photographers. Turns out difficult, but I succeed. A masterful scenery builds up in front of me. I enjoy the moment. It remains one of my most beautiful travel memories.
#02 Henningsvær
Lofoten in Norway in the fall of 2021. After arriving in Tromsø and spending a night in a hotel, we set off for Henningsvær, where our first accommodation on the Lofoten is waiting for us. It is a small apartment right next to probably the most famous small soccer field in the world. I can't wait to get up for sunrise tomorrow. The morning is a bit chaotic. It is cold and I first go out on foot. Light rain starts. Escape-like I run back and sit down in the car. Despite the few hundred meters to the soccer field, I quickly realize that it was the right decision to take the car. I would not have survived the wet and the cold until sunrise. Fortunately, the clouds have dissolved somewhat shortly before sunrise and the suns enchanted the damp landscape in golden colors.
#03 Museum of the Future
The sunset approaches Dubai. I'm sitting at my hotel room at the Voco Hotel in Dubai. My camera is fitted with a timer and set up on a tripod in the corner in front of the only window that has just been freshly washed. As Elliott, Julian, Jonny and Jorden arrive, scenes like a summer sale occur. The crew is pounce on the one window. Fortunately, my timelapse recording is already running, so I can watch with amusement for the time being. It is a awesome evening with the most successful picture that I have shot in the week Dubai and one of my favorite images of recent years.
#04 Lake Bled
It is the first morning of my trip through Europe with Julian, Jorden and Elliott. We are in Slovenia, more precisely at Lake Bled. The sun is just turning the sky pink, light mist hovers over the lake and the golden fall colors are awakening. In front of us a breath-taking scenery. The Church of St. Mary on its small island directly in front of us, in the background the Karavanke mountain range. The village of Bled at the end of the lake is veiled in mist and slowly a hot air balloon rises above Bled Castle. Simply fantastic and unforgettable.
#05 Vernazza
One image that influenced me the most when I was starting out with photography was a picture of Vernazza by Elia Locardi. Ever since I saw that image, I knew that a mix of travel and landscape photography was my thing. In June 2017, I finally made it to Cinque Terre. The evening was pleasantly warm and we ate another fabulous Italian pizza before walking to the viewpoint over Vernazza. The sun was slowly setting and the lights over the town was starting to form a unique lighting scene. It was exactly how I imagined the evening.
#06 Furkapass
It's 2021, and the pandemic continues to grip the world. A new wave of covid is raging in Europe right now. Travel is only possible to a limited extent. Since Switzerland is only 2h away from us, we decide to take a road trip with a camper through the Swiss alpine passes. Switzerland offers a lot of these passes. One of the most famous is the Furka Pass with the picturesque Hotel Belvedere. Unfortunately, the hotel is currently out of service. In order to photograph the sunrise, we arrive at the parking lot of the Rhone Glacier already at night. The night was short, but getting up is easy. The view and the conditions are fantastic.
